β
Quick Checklist: Packing, Cleaning & Moving
π¦ Packing
-
Use quality moving boxes and label each one clearly (include contents + room).
-
Pack essentials separately (toiletries, chargers, clothes, documents).
-
Declutter as you go to avoid moving unnecessary items.
-
Wrap breakables with care using bubble wrap or paper.
-
Disassemble bulky furniture early to save time on moving day.
-
Keep an inventory list - it helps with unpacking and insurance.
π§Ό Cleaning
-
Follow an end-of-lease cleaning checklist (ask us for a copy if needed).
-
Prioritise high-traffic areas like kitchens and bathrooms.
-
Repair any minor damage (e.g., scuff marks, loose handles).
-
Steam clean carpets if required by your lease agreement.
-
Ensure all windows, mirrors, and surfaces are streak-free.
-
Clean from top to bottom -start with ceilings and light fittings.
-
Hire a professional cleaner if you're short on time or unsure -it's an investment in protecting your bond.
π Moving Tips
-
Book your removalist early to secure your preferred date.
-
Confirm your final inspection and key return details with your eUmeco manager.
-
Take timestamped photos of the property before handing back keys.
-
Keep important items (valuables, keys, ID, medications) with you -not in the truck.
-
Ensure clear access for the moving vehicle on the day.
π Preparing to Leave Your Current Home
1. Review your lease
Check your agreement for any special conditions -such as carpet steam cleaning, pest treatment, or utility transfer obligations. Knowing your responsibilities upfront can help you avoid delays or deductions from your bond.
2. Give written notice
Notice periods vary depending on your lease type. Whether you're on a fixed-term or periodic agreement, written notice is required to end your tenancy.
π To make this easy, we ask tenants to complete the eUmeco “Notice to Terminate Tenancy Agreement” form -available on our website or via your property manager.
If you’re unsure of your required notice period or vacate date, just reach out and we’ll guide you through it.
3. Mark your key dates
Note the following in your calendar:
-
Vacate date
-
Final inspection date
-
Key return deadline
-
Cleaning and removalist bookings
We recommend allowing at least 3 days between moving out and your final inspection to complete cleaning and repairs.
4. Sort your utilities and mail
-
Organise temporary mail redirection via Australia Post to avoid missing bills or correspondence.
-
Update your address with banks, Medicare, insurance, subscriptions, and service providers.
-
Settle any final accounts (gas, electricity, internet) before leaving to ensure a clean financial exit.
